Dissemination

The main strategy regarding successful dissemination is to make the programme as effective and interesting as possible. Satisfied users of the programme will alert colleagues and friends as to its usefulness through the usual networks. Primarily, the strategy for dissemination, however, will be to make direct or indirect contact with as many potential users as possible, letting them know of TRAIN TO ECOLABEL availability and capability. This includes, first of all, potential ultimate users of the products: SMEs in the tourist sector and umbrella organisations using the product within their networks and other interested groups like competent bodies, the Ecolabel help desk, tourist federations and the Commission’s DG Environment. The dissemination strategy is a step by step process, including

(i)awareness raising,
(ii)commitment and
(iii) usage.

First dissemination activities for Train To Ecolabel

First dissemination activities from the partners have been reported as follows:

Greece:

Speeds Consultants launched a press release (up to 15.2.2006). Articles have been published in ELEFTHEROTYPIA (one of the biggest circulating daily newspaper) and in the daily financial newspaper KERDOS. The info leaflet has been forwarded as PDF to the supporting partner Hotels Chamber of Greece, which will forward it to its members. Hard copies will also be distributed to possible interested parties (hotel chains, interested hotels).

Further activities:

Link to SPEED website (under construction) until the end of Mach 2006.

The Greek CB has been already informed about the project. A more official information will be sent after the completion of the material (summer-autumn 2006).

During “Tourism Panorama” in Athens, April, the project leaflet will be distributed.

Germany:

The EU Ecolabel has been presented five days during ITB, Berlin’s most challenging tourism fair with a separate stand in hall 4.1. The project Train-to-Ecolabel participated at this stand during all the days. Many project folders have been distributed at the stand. This folder was also part of the standard press kit for the EU Ecolabel marketing activities. This press kit was presented during a press conference to journalists in tourism. The activities have been organised by G&L and Energon.

Austria:

Based on the general project description, the project leaflet and ongoing activities, a general press release has been elaborated (and proof-read by Motti Essakov) and sent to all partners for translation. This press information has been partially used at the presentation of the EU Ecolabel at the Ferienmesse in Vienna and will be following part of the press activities of the EU Ecolabel marketing activities.

Furthermore, the Austrian Competent Body for the EU Ecolabel (Federal Ministry of Environment) has also been officially informed on the project progress during a meeting.

Latvia:

Mrs. Agnese Jakovica from “Lauku celotajs” has been hosting and visiting several dissemination events in Latvia so far. Among these was the “Latvian Rural Tourism Conference” treating topics of the rural tourism development in Latvia with more than 310 participants. She also informed journalists on Train to Ecolabel during a media trip to rural accommodations and a rural tourism conference. Several dissemination activities are planned in the future.
