44. Heat recovery

This criteria focuses on the installation of heat recovery systems. The basic idea is to use waste heat for heating air or water in order that this energy is not lost.

Typical sources of heat waste generated in campsites include:

  • Refrigeration systems.
  • Vapour-exhaust systems,
  • Washing machines,
  • Dishwashers,
  • Swimming pool(s),
  • Sanitary wastewater.

Typical applications for using the gained heat are heating of air and water.

This criterion focuses on the following:

  • Identifying current heat loss.
  • Technical possibilities to take advantage of heat recovery systems.
  • Implementing solutions.
  • How to document your heat recovery system.
